Ready. Set. Go.

I have needed a safe place to vent for a while. A place to express myself. Somewhere to write down what I am thinking without worrying too much about grammar or political correctness.

Take Ordain Women for instance.

This whole thing just irks me. It is like a mosquito bite between my toes that I can't itch because I am wearing sneakers.

I have a testimony of Jesus Christ and of the restored gospel. That means that I raise my hand to the square twice a year when asked if I sustain church leaders in general conference. With that action, I am telling myself, my family, my church leaders and my Saviour that I trust in Him to lead and guide this church. If the Lord wanted things to run differently, he would tell his prophet and let us know. I am OK with that. No, I am more than OK with that. I am delighted to know that someone who knows all and sees all and understands all is in charge. I place my life and faith in Him completely.

For these sisters seeking to hold the priesthood, I have feelings of concern and sadness. Sad that they have not necessarily found the true joy and fulness in life that comes from being a daughter of God and understanding the importance and significance of their role. Sad that being or having the potential of being a mom and bringing spirit children into this world and raising them is not enough. I am sad that they are not content with rocking the cradle, but are more concerned with who is rockin' a general conference prayer. I am concerned that so many people have heard the prophets speak and yet don't seem to listen.

Asking the Lord to ordain women is like asking the Lord to no longer require baptism. Sure, He could do it if He wanted to, but I will gladly wait for His instructions to the prophet on the issue. I give all I can as a woman and daughter of God. I am learning plenty, believe me. I have so much to work on as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and neighbour. I am much more concerned with running my own home than running the church itself.

I believe that when the prophets have responded to questions regarding this issue, the answer has been no. The Lord has said, no, women may not hold the priesthood right now.  (maybe never?? -- only the Lord knows that). When the prophets state that they don't know WHY the answer is no, it does NOT mean that the answer to the original question is I don't know. Two different questions, two different answers.
